Rubber insulating equipment
Updated 2026-11-02
Data records
- Under 29 CFR 1910.137, rubber insulating equipment is inspected for damage before each day's use and immediately after any incident that could reasonably have damaged it, gloves are given an air test with the inspection, and the equipment is given periodic electrical tests at the maximum intervals of the regulation's test-interval table, summarized in the datum value, by a test method that reliably shows whether it can withstand the voltages involved; equipment tested but not issued may not be placed in service unless its last test is recent enough under the table's note, and the employer certifies the tests. The duties are stated in paragraph (c). Value: gloves before first issue and every 6 months after it, sleeves and blankets before first issue and every 12 months after it, line hose and covers when the insulating value is suspect, and any type after repair.
